In June of 1970, the Cincinnati Reds moved from Crosley Field to Riverfront Stadium, their new, state-of-the-art cookie cutter stadium. Riverfront Stadium was surfaced with Astroturf except for the base pads, which used dirt provided by a local graveyard. In 1976, the National League celebrated its Centennial Anniversary and the Reds wore a patch on their jersey to commemorate the historic occasion.
